Back To The Land

When I first came to beautiful North Carolina in the late 1970's, I began painting landscapes whenever I had time. They featured Piedmont and mountain scenes, cows, farms, highlands. This continued till the late 80's, when I embarked on other subjects and styles, including abstracts, urban architecture, and expressionism.

Now I have returned to landscape, because the subject matter still remains similar, but my vision and approach may have changed. It feels less literal, more ambiguous.

The rich traditions that characterize the land are laced with mystique. I am consciously embedding that strain in the current images.
